What alternatives exist for watching out-of-market NFL games? We’ve lined up your options.
By Taylor Kujawa Edited By Mike Strayer
It’s official, NFL Sunday Ticket has left DIRECTV for YouTube. The out-of-market package will be available with YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels in 2023. Stay tuned for more details.
Can I get Sunday Ticket without DIRECTV?
Unfortunately, NFL SUNDAY TICKET comes exclusively through DIRECTV. That’s a bummer because NFL SUNDAY TICKET is the primary way to watch live out-of-market NFL games on Sunday afternoons this season. But other options do exist for catching out-of-market games without signing up for satellite TV service.
By now, you’ve probably heard that NFL SUNDAY TICKET is moving to a streaming service after the 2022 season. That’s why we’ve outlined ways you can go without DIRECTV this year and still enjoy all Sunday games.
NFL SUNDAY TICKET streaming package
NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV is a streaming package for non-DIRECTV subscribers who meet strict eligibility requirements. It costs the same as the NFL SUNDAY TICKET satellite package. But you’ll be free from dealing with equipment and multi-year contracts.
So, what are those strict eligibility requirements? NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV is available only to those who live in multi-unit buildings—like apartments or condos—that don’t get DIRECTV. It’s also available for people in select areas within large cities. But you’re better off running your address through the NFL SUNDAY TICKET sign-up page to see if you qualify.

Those who are lucky enough to get NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV will have the option to choose from two plans.
The basic plan gets you every Sunday afternoon NFL game for $293.94 a season. Then, there’s NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV MAX for $395.94 a season, which carries those same out-of-market games with RED ZONE CHANNEL and the DIRECTV FANTASY ZONE channel. Anyone with an NFL fantasy football league will cherish those extra channels. Plus, you can bundle an annual NFL+ Premium subscription with the MAX plan for an extra $48.00—saving you $39.99 a year for NFL+.
Current college students and those previously enrolled within the past 18 months can also get a discounted version of the MAX plan. We’ll explain more about that nifty deal in the next section.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET for students
If you’re an NFL fan attending college, you can get the massively discounted NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV U streaming package. It costs $29.99 a month for four months or $119.96 for the entire regular season.
The student plan not only has a cheaper price but also has better features when compared to the generic NFL SUNDAY TICKET package. That’s because it comes with RED ZONE CHANNEL and DIRECTV FANTASY ZONE—channels otherwise found in the NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX package ($395.94/season).
Like with NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV, you can check your student eligibility on the NFL SUNDAY TICKET website.
Only want access to NFL RedZone?
Other TV providers also carry NFL RedZone. While it’s a separately produced broadcast than what’s on DIRECTV, the concept is the same: whip-around coverage of Sunday afternoon NFL games.
Sling TV’s Blue plan ($40.00/mo.) with the Sports Extra add-on package ($11.00/mo.) will get you NFL RedZone, plus several other sports channels like NFL Network, Big 10 Network, and Pac-12 Network.
NFL Plus: out-of-market games on demand
The NFL launched its NFL+ streaming service last year—replacing NFL Games Pass in the US. If you’re still not keen on the pricing for NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV, NFL+ Premium is the next best option for out-of-market game access.
The premium plan costs $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year. But the catch with NFL+ is that out-of-market games are available only on demand, so you can’t start watching them until after they end in real time.
If you don’t mind not watching games live, NFL+ is the perfect way to skip NFL SUNDAY TICKET altogether. It even carries live local and primetime games for mobile viewing.
Ultimately, you may want to pair NFL+ with a live TV streaming service like fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, or YouTube TV. Then you can watch Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football matchups on a larger screen. The same goes for watching the NFL Playoffs and the Super Bowl.

NFL Game Pass International (with a VPN)
NFL Game Pass is still an active service in most countries and territories outside the US, and you can still access it stateside. The international service offers every NFL game live and on demand. All you need to do is use a virtual private network (VPN) (that hasn’t been blocked by the NFL) to sign up and watch games on NFL Game Pass International.
When using a VPN with NFL Game Pass, you must connect to a server outside the US and Canada. You’ll also need to select Game Pass’s Pro plan to get live game access. The pricing may vary depending on your server location, but it’ll be much cheaper than NFL SUNDAY TICKET. And you’ll have the option to pay with a credit card or use PayPal.
